[ Ribosome electrostatics ]

The changes in the electrostatic potential of the 70S ribosome occurring during the ratchet-like motion [1,2]. Potential was obtained by solving the Poisson-Boltzmann equation with the Adaptive Poisson-Boltzmann Solver [3], for various backbone structures of the ribosome derived from normal mode analysis. Red color denotes potential isosurface of -5kT/e and blue +1kT/e.
