My Family
I married my wife 4 years ago. We currently live in San Diego, California. I'm grateful for my wife, because she's the only connection I have with the "non-nerd" world.

My wife the night we got engaged. Some advice: when you take a girl up into the mountains to ask for her hand, leave earlier than I did.

LDS Mission in Maceio, Alagoas, Brazil
I served a two-year LDS (Mormon) mission in northeastern Brazil. My current interest in biomedical research stems from my experiences there, where I saw much health-related social injustice.

I worked in this area. Some of the most faithful, kind-hearted individuals I've ever met live in this slum.

Another area where I worked, until we were threatened by a local drug addict. Too bad; there are some wonderful people who live here as well.

Here's some of my missionary friends. About half of all Mormon missionaries in Brazil are native Brazilians.

Brazilian children are beautiful. I married a Brazilian, so I'm hoping my kids turn out alright, despite my "gringo" genes. :)

Here's the Mormon temple in Recife, Brazil. My parents and I took some of my Maceio friends to the temple at the end of my mission.

Other Personal Interests
I'm also involved in a project to disseminate correct information about the Mormon religion and culture. Mormons are one of the few "ethnic" groups against which bigotry is still considered "politically correct" by many. Feel free to visit my site,
